Code Computerlove (www.codecomputerlove.com) supported Save The Children’s Festival Of Trees fund raising initiative by creating magical animated Christmas trees.
The charity approached Code’s award winning animation team to help them take Christmas tree doodles created by 12 school children and turn them into fantastic and magical animations that will be projected during a charity event being held on 7 December at Kelvingrove Art Gallery. Each tree is designed to represent each of the 12 prizes up for auction on the night.
Code designer Ian Wharton designed two of the trees for the event: “My first tree, The Dominion Movie Lovers Tree, is designed to reflect the chance for someone to enjoy a great movie in the comfort of their own 60-seat cinema, with added luxuries including ice cream sundaes and luxury chocolates, all courtesy of The Dominion Cinema Edinburgh.
“My Green Tree animation shows how winners of this prize can offset their carbon footprint, with range of eco-friendly treats and services. This unusual tree is proof that green can be both stylish and chic.
“Our animations are inspired by the children’s pencil drawings, We’ve then interpreted this and the prizes with 3D illustrations. It is a great idea and will really help to bring the auction to life. Code is committed to helping as many charities as we can, and our main beneficiary is Refuge, but it’s great that we can support Save The Children in this way.”
Director of Save the Children, Stuart Gilmour comments that he was “excited by the prospect of doing something completely different for this year’s Festival of Trees. We spotted an opportunity to add a new dynamic to the event so, in addition to redesigning the print to incorporate Save the Children’s development of its brand, we decided to work with the idea of trees, and growth, using animation to bring the children’s doodles to life”.

More About Festival of Trees
An enchanting start to the festive celebrations, Festival of Trees is Save the Children’s premier black-tie fundraising event, helping us to help those children in the greatest need, at home and across the world. Funds raised through table sales and auction of trees will go to specific projects in Scotland and other funds raised through the interactive fundraising games (pass the parcel, decorate the tree) will go to Save the Children’s International Emergency work. Festival of Trees is already being supported by organisations including Scottish Chambers of Commerce, Guy Robertson Partnership, Ernst & Young, and Natasha Marshall Fabrics & Wallcoverings. Trees with a twist – this year’s Christmas trees will be unveiled on the night in stunning virtual form. Guest MC broadcaster Janice Forsyth and professional auctioneers will lead the furious bidding for the trees and associated prizes.
